How do I get a new install to look at my old DB? I am trying to reorganize my site and want to put osCommerce under a subdomain, but I don't want to re-enter all the store data.

Thanks - > Steve

That is really funny,

we have posted approximately the same question at the same time...

;-)

Basically, if you move your shop you just will move all the files to the new folder, will have to correct the settings of the configure.php's to take consideration your new folders.

If you don't change the settings of your database, you will be fine and OSC will work with the old database at the new location.

I fear, it will become really tricky, if you try a new installation, and your shop has been heavily modded (including changes in the database).

Michel, thank you!

I loaded a new install of OSC, then,

Renamed these files, just in case I messed up:

../catalog/includes/languages/english/index.php >>>*.old

../catalog/includes/configure.php >>>*.old

../store/catalog/admin/configuration.php >>>*.old

../store/catalog/admin/includes/configure.php >>> *.old

(and the other files that I customized like footer, header, etc)

Then I copied the corresponding files out of my original install and "Voila!"

The biggest reason to do this was that I had dropped in rank from 9 to 400+ on Google. Now, maybe, I can get sitemap to help Googlebot index all the pages that are now subdirectories...

I can only hope!
