glamourfish Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Any Idea as to how one tests that PayPal checkout is working? if at first you do succeed...try not to look surprised!
chooch Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 but a test product from your store using paypal... what else is the best way? Upon receiving fixes and advice, too many people don't bother to post updates informing the forum of how it went. Until of course they need help again on other issues and they come running back! Why receive the information you require in good faith for free, only to then have the attitude to ignore the people who gave it to you? There's no harm in saying, 'Thanks, it worked'. On the contrary, it creates a better atmosphere. CHOOCH
glamourfish Posted May 4, 2006 Author Posted May 4, 2006 Just upload something at 0.00 cost??? is this what you mean? Sorry if this is a really stupid question...I'm full of these!! :P if at first you do succeed...try not to look surprised!
glamourfish Posted May 8, 2006 Author Posted May 8, 2006 Anybody have any suggestions as to how I can test Paypal checkout working? I added a test product to the site with 0.00 value? But my PayPal account doesn't allow me to process anything with 0.00 value. I also tried using the paypal sandbox testing accounts, but obviously my site doesn't direct to the paypal test site.... ANY SUGGESTIONS?????? if at first you do succeed...try not to look surprised!
spax Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 You can't have everything for free dude! :D Spend a bit of money and check it out with a real item.
chooch Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 why try to pay for an item that costs $0.00? use your initiative (and brains) and add an item to your cart with a value so it can carry over to paypal and allow you to see various scenarios in order to confirm whether your paypal module is working or not. I would advise a person of your extremely limited oscommerce knowloedge not to touch the IPN until you actually get the paypal standard module working as you will only further confuse yourself. Guest Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Why not just make an order and pay thru PayPal then make a refund? Wont cost you anything in the end. Cheers

ANY SUGGESTIONS?????? I setup a few test items at 0.10 each and then used a friends paypal account to try it out. Paypal wouldnt let me send money to myself, regardless of the amount. It worked for me. I ran about 10 test orders through it like this just to make sure everything was ok. For all that it cost, I have to say it was definitly worth it! ;)

I added an item at 0.00 to test it! It takes me through to paypal, but I don't process it...so I can't check it completely. For example i want to see what happens when it's confirmed. The customer's receipt from PayPal & the confirmation to the seller, etc.... Scarcasm isn't considered as help! but thanks anyway! if at first you do succeed...try not to look surprised!

Guest Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 paypal actually has a thing you register an account to which is just like regular paypal, you can add bank accunts. send money to and from (fake money). this is to test and develope ecommerce intregation tools and not have to send payments to a live account.. called paypal sandbox https://developer.paypal.com/

glamourfish Posted May 9, 2006 Author Posted May 9, 2006 Hi Smithveg, PayPal is there for the customer to have 2nd payment option. The customer will need to have a creditcard though. When you sign up a PayPal account you need to register a credit card number so they can make sure that you are legitimate & also so you can receive your money. If a customer buys on a site where you offer paypal you are directed to the paypal site where you transfer the money & then you are taken back to the original sellers website. Have a look at their website - they tell you everything you need to know: www.paypal.com I'm not sure what way you can trade ecommerce if you don't have a creditcard. I suggest you contact your bank & see if they can issue you with a credit card. A. if at first you do succeed...try not to look surprised!
