Kylo Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Hey there, I am new to osCommerce and have installed it yesterday. Since then I have been configuring the store to my liking and now that I have most of it done I have been using it in test mode to create customers and check how the process is run. But when I go through the check-out it doesnt add taxes to the orders. I am based in BC, Canada and I need to charge people in BC 14%, out BC 7%, and outside Canada 0%. But when I make an accout with either a BC or Ontario addess, they dont have tax included in any orders. Help would be appreciated.
stab Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 In your admin panel /Location Taxes/Tax zones. Create a taxzone for Canada BC (insert.... and for examplewrite zonename =Canada BC... description=BC. Then click on the Canada BC folder you created and again ...insert..chose contry=Canada and zone=BC Then Make a new tax zone and call that Canada.Click on Canada folder and manually add all zones (one by one) but not Brittish Columbia offcourse since you have a special tax zone made for BC already). Then go down to Tax rates in adminpanel and. Click new tax rate..Chose Canada BC from dropdown meny and fill in your tax rate..description (what kind of tax it is) Then do the same with Canada folder with all the rest of the zones and fill in the tax for those zones. .
Kylo Posted May 3, 2006 Author Posted May 3, 2006 I understand how the tax section works. It is just not actually adding any taxes to my orders. Also under the customers Billing Infomation it looks like this: Sub-Total: $20.00 Table Rate (Best Way): $3.00 Total: $23.00 and as you can see there is no tax added into it when there is suppose to be 14%.

Go to the admin control panel of osc and then go to Locations/Taxes > Tax Zones You need three tax zones created One for BC (Include only BC and) One for Canada (Include only Canada) One for The rest of the countries.(Include the rest of the countries which is tedious) Then create two tax rates. One for the provincial BC tax and connect it to the BC zone and one for the federal GST and connect it to the Canada zone. You will also need to create a new tax class for shipping as it is also subject to GST but not PST (at least in ontario) Assign this tax class to the Canada Zone. Backup before making changes. Backup before making changes! Backup before making changes!! You did do a backup? eh?
Kylo Posted May 3, 2006 Author Posted May 3, 2006 I have deleted and re-created all my tax information and there is still no go on adding the taxes to the Order Total. and yes I have the display option enabled.
stab Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Get the MultiGeoZone MultiTable Shipping Module. http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,2571 And define what tax class applyes to what shipping zone (you can have 3 shipping zones as default and define what tax zone each and one should have) It works for me. My setup is: my country(local tax)-EU(EU tax)-The rest of the world(no tax) And you also have 3 induvidually different choises for shipping tables for all geo zones.

Thanks, Dennis
