I wanted opinions on how everything is working, overall layout, etc. I have multiple, multiple contributions in this site.

you haven't uploaded many images correctly.... looks like you used a template, good.. at least it isnt too stock

Upon receiving fixes and advice, too many people don't bother to post updates informing the forum of how it went. Until of course they need help again on other issues and they come running back!

Why receive the information you require in good faith for free, only to then have the attitude to ignore the people who gave it to you?

There's no harm in saying, 'Thanks, it worked'. On the contrary, it creates a better atmosphere.

Actually reloading images as we speak, had to do a little adjusting on categories and that wipes my pics out for some reason. I didn't use a purchased template per se...I am using the sts and designed my own layout.

I have cookies set to false because of aol customers. How do I fix the session loss on the links at the top? I have a phone number listed on my contact us page. SSL is because it is shared and I intend to get a reg ssl for this domain :) I thought maybe this would work for right now.

Anything else you can see as far as what I can do to vamp up the site pages, product info pages, etc.

there is no cookies set to false, session loss is prevented by adding the sessionid as in all your other links, that is not a phone number I can dail, shared has nothing to do with it, it works but gives a warning.

Suggest you test your site yourself first before asking us to do it. These are very hard to miss errors.

Actually, yes, they are set to false in the admin area. Here is a copy/paste of my sessions area

Force Cookie Use False

Check SSL Session ID False

Check User Agent False

Check IP Address False

Prevent Spider Sessions True

Recreate Session False

What are you refering to of session loss? Session ID's do not come up when I test it all because I have the seo urls installed. Is there something I am missing here?

Why is an 800 number not a number you can dial?

SSL - I realize it gives a warning and this is because of the shared ssl site registration to my other company name. The secure and non secure is because of 2 of the banners I have running, should I remove them completely? And...I have checked everything myself, thanks. That's why I came here...to get opinions. Some ideas as to how I can fix these issues would be much appreciated.

that is force cookie use which has nothing to do with whether cookies are used or not.

seo urls has nothing to do with session id's in the url.

you have session id 's in the url, except in your header links and there is where you lose the session, refuse cookies and see.

The layout is nice. The problem I see, it does not match the context for this type of store. I would had used some strong colors like purple or reddish and bigger font size for the various descriptions/listings.

You need to change the shopping cart icon link. Use the tep_href_link function that preserves the session. The security certificate warning comes because the domain does not match the subject field. You could ask your host to fix it for you if that came with the hosting.

Also regarding sessions there was a bug I remember with the seo contribution you're using that converts the html special characters to utf-8. The problem comes from the includes\functions\html_output.php function tep_href_link. It's because I think there is some code like

return utf8_encode($link);

and that is used when you try to add something to the cart from the buy now buttons.

Also you could enhance the thumbnails in the listing pages. I believe there is enough space for that.

Good luck with your store.

Ok, I have done about 2 hrs of tweaking to everything that was mentioned here. I'm still not sure about the cookies thing or the session ids thing but I've made some changes to code and in the admin area. I also have set up the cache in admin and I hope I have taken care of some of the problems.

I just added the Image Magic contribution to the shop. I think the images are coming out alot better and not so blurry. I hope this is doing the trick as far as image size is concerned. I also did some tweaking to the product info pages. I also wanted to list every contribution that I put into the shop to maybe see if there was something else I could add to make it more user friendly.

Any other constructive ideas? I am weary about installing PWA on this because of the nature of the products...thoughts?

why? surely they could easily enter false details??

personally i have switched to fast easy chackout from pwa

What did you find different with FEC vs. PWA? My thoughts are...all the big wigs, walmart, amazon, target, etc make you create an account...why not me? Then again, I think like a customer too..I don't want my info hanging around in a database. With FEC, can you keep enough info in the database to use a tracking contribution?

I have added the wishlist contrib to the site and was wanting opinions on the overall look, feel, ease of finding things. Also, I'm up in the air about the top row of links. Get rid of them because they are in the infobox, keep them as they are, or create a decorative menubar?
