scrocker1946 Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Hi people, I'm afraid this may sound a little ignorant, but I can't find any low-level introduction explaining the basic concepts of OS Commerce. Everything I've seen seems to assume a basic understanding of what OS Commerce is and how it is designed. Just for example. Many forum posit and KB articles discuss doing things with "boxes". But what exactly is a box? I infer from context that it must be some kind of basic design element in a catalog page, but I see nowhere that this is explained. Similarly for other basic concepts that underly OSC. I would like to know what kind of pages are included on an OS COmmerce site, and what is the process of making a page contain the specific information desired. What for example, is the relation between products and categories in the Product Manager, and what the site visitor actually sees whan entering the catalog. How can the look of the catalog be customized? What are the basic layout elements of a catalog page which are fixed and can't be altered. etc. etc. I hope I'm not asking anybody here to sit down and write a basic OSC tutorial - I'm sure you all have day jobs. I'm hoping to find the location of very basic intro material that I might have missed. Something like "OS COmmerce for Dummies". Thanks, -Steve
