new to mysql and phpadmin

I am using ibserver to try to upload control and create my databases but im am new to this and dont really know where best to put my queries.

 

I have installed apache on my local pc and created a database that i can acess and change no problems.

 

My problems arise when i try to create/install my database on my ISP server. I purchased some webspace and a domain name with dream-hosting who have oscommerce under the fantastico icon on the c panel.

 

But I chose to upload oscommerce under my www folder on the server. when the install page comes up i enter my server ip address my username my database name and the password but still rceive the error message (unable to connect [email protected] using password yes).

 

I really am lost I dont know if I can use a database from my local machine or if i need to create a database on my server, if it from my local machine do i use my login and password from my ibserver software.

 

any help would be useful. I am really desperate to learn how to use this software i read a lot of great reports about it.
