captainyee Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 Hi, I host with godaddy.com and their control panel does not appear to have the function to password protect my Admin directory. My other shopping sites hosted by others (hostgator, etc.) provides this from their control panel/ftp but godaddy.com (according to their tech) does not have this function. I'm on the linux server not windows. Anyone has any suggestions? Are there tools/scripts that can provide this for me? Thanks in advance.

You can set a password by creating an .htaccess file and placing it the admin folder. Backup before making changes. Backup before making changes! Backup before making changes!! You did do a backup? eh?

Wendy James Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 to me writing the htaccess files can be a pain (I am so not good at writing code stuff) but there are several contributions you could use. http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,4121 http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,1082 There are also fancier ones with admin levels etc if you do a search.
