Is there a currency contribution to detect IPS?, Please help me find this contribution if available

We are desperately seeking a solution to detect USA IP addresses when visiting our site. so currency can default in USD dollars. We are a UK company that advertises in UK ? sterling but would like the site to open in dollars when US customers visit the site. We currently have a drop down box were US/EURO is available to customers but so far this has not been affective.

 

Please can someone give me advise in what can be done

I would be interested in this too. My statistics suggest that around 80% of my visitors are from the US, but a very small percentage of my sales are to American customers, despite offering Free postage worldwide.

 

I think having the currency default to USD for customers within certain IP ranges would be very beneficial.
