Newbie: How to install contributions

Hello all. I'm having a dense moment, and haven't been able to find what I am looking for via the forum search. I'm obviously not using the correct search criterea. :-"

I'm setting up my first osCommerce site, and need to know how contributions are installed. Is there a feature in the admin interface that contributions are installed via? Or are they each installed by ftp, etc?

I have a particular contribution in mind: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...ad_Controllerv5

The readme.txt is a little over my head. If someone could get me going in the right direction, I might be able to figure it out.

Sorry my first post had to be a 'duh' post.

Thanks in advance,

Scott

There is no built in feature to add contributions. I believe someone created a contribution installer but contributions have to be written specifically for it to work (or altered to get them to work).

In most cases contributions have step by step instructions on how to install them in the zip file you download. Some will have files which you can use to overwrite the original files (on a fresh unmodivied version of osCommerce) that you may need to hunt for the changes using a compair program if you have modified any of the pages before.

In all honesty, most of the contributions are fairly easy to install if you just take your time, follow the instructions and double check your work.

Always... always, make back up files of the pages you are editing incase you do have a problem so you can go back to the original page and start over.
