Hello,

I have recently installed a oscommerce shop on one of my domains with a lycos package - didnt require any programming - just an 'add on' in my lycos account.

I have now set up the shop and it looks great - BUT i now want to transfer the oscommerce shop to a different domain name - how do i do this? WITHOUT LOSING ALL MY HARD WORK SPENT CONFIGURING IT!?

the site currently has a redirection domain on it, but apparently this causes it to be in a frame and search engines cant pick up on it. you can see the site at http://www.snailshop.co.uk but the domain is actually http://www.thesnailshop.co.uk

I want it to be on http://www.snailshop.co.uk without cloaking/redirection to the www.thesnailshop.co.uk domain.

Has any one had experience with the lycos package and know how to swap the domain over (without losing the info on the oscommerce site?

As you can probably tell i know little about programming so any info greatfully received (b 4 i start going grey!) lol

To move a site to a new server

1. Backup database in osC admin

2. FTP files to local computer

3. Create database and user at new location, making sure that you assign user to database.

4. Populate new database using sql file from last backup you did on old server.

5. Edit your two configure.php file with new server and database info.

6. Upload all your files to new location.

You should be good to go. If you are changing domain names you may also need to edit your language files, logo etc to match new domain.

The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing.

Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems?

There are many very useful osC Contributions

Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here

BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??
