Moving osCommerce - Problem with /public_html/

I'm trying to move a second OSC installation on my server from:

http://www.server.com/osc (/public_html/osc/)

to:

http://www.server.com (/public_html/)

But I want to save the current installation in /public_html/

To do this, I'm renaming my /public_html/ to /public_html_old/ and just copying /osc/ to the server's root directory and renaming it /public_html/

I do this, then I try to access the website from my browser and www.server.com shows me a folder tree with /public_html/ as the only thing in it. I have to access my store at www.server.com/public_html which doesn't make sense. The renamed public_html file DEFINITELY in the root directory of the server. Is there something that needs to be changed with Apache when I rename public_html?

Somebody PLEEEEASE help. This is a royal pain!!
