surely its just a case of backing up your current sites database and importing the .sql file into the new database...

Is it really? What about all the files that are missing from a brand new shop? I have a lots of mods installed on the shop that I have fixed..

You should be able to use the same database without to much hassles.

If you are missing .php files it should not matter ... those missing or modded files will just not be calling any extra database tables or fields that you may have added.

You would definately want to go through and remove any unused tables or fields to avoid confusion and keep your database clean.
