Porsche032 Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Hi, My hosting company is Aplus.net. I have been with them for about a year. Today I got an email from them saying this "Over the past month, we have been monitoring the resource usage of your Web site on our Shared hosting server. We would like to think that, with the amount of resources your site is consuming, your business is doing very well these days. Unfortunately, the plan you are currently using no longer meets your site's requirements. We would like to invite you to review the current plans we offer, available at http://hosting.aplus.net/, and have you choose a more appropriate one for your site to avoid a disruption in service. " They want me to switch my plan to a dedicated server. I emailed them asking why and they told me this "The current plan is Pro, the issue here is the SQL usage - 1072K queries daily, which is 109 % over the allowed usage. You can check the usage under the Usage Meter Icon in your Online Control Panel." They also told me my current plan is 512k sql queries daily. A dedicated server is $100+ a month. I dont know if i should upgrade the plan or find a better host. Can someone help me out. Thanks

Osc is resource intensive but there are optimizations that can be done and found in contributions. Satish Mantri Ask/Skype for Free osCommerce value addon/SEO suggestion tips for your site. AlanR Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 This is pretty arrogant... We would like to think that, with the amount of resources your site is consuming, your business is doing very well these days. Shop around for different hosting. Basing your usage on the number of queries is a new one on me. Looking at their plans they're overpriced anyway. You can get more, better for less. Local: Mac OS X 10.5.8 - Apache 2.2/php 5.3.0/MySQL 5.4.10 • Web Servers: Linux Tools: BBEdit, Coda, Versions (Subversion), Sequel Pro (db management)

AlanR Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Start here: http://www.hosting-comparison.com/info/popular-hosts From watching and listening to other's problems they're mostly all good but you don't want Yahoo, they're only popular because of name recognition. Make sure you can get ssh access and learn how to use it. Also multiple databases and multiple domain support. With ssh access I can move a site in 10 minutes, I've done it. Is there a way to find out how many SQL queries each host has? I'm looking at bluehost.com and i dont see any info about that.
