linux or windows web hosting please help.

Hi,

I am planning to buy web hosting to put oscommerse on. I am currently looking on the godaddy.com hosting plan. But I don't know which server linux or windows is suitable for oscommerse:

 

Windows have

ASP

 

 

Linux have

PHP4 or PHP5

Custom PHP.ini

Custom PHP5.ini

 

both have mysql

 

I am not a programmer.

 

Do you have any other suggestions or recommendations on web hosting sites?

Linux.

 

OSC is built in PHP. From the list you give here, GoDAddy do not even have PHP installed on their Windows boxes. I always had nothing but trouble installing OSC on Windows boxes - I remember e-mail being a particular headache.

linux for so many reasons, things like rewrite (used in seo contribs) only on linux, php, possibility of using custom php.ini..

 

id go for php4 by the way just coz its easier to sort existing stuff
