Download Controller v5.3 order status not updating. Need Help????

I have installed Download Controllerv5.3 and evrything seems to work fine until I get to the las step of the confirmation process. The e-mail confirmation is sent to my e-mail but when I go to checkout_success the image is not downloadable because my status shows 3 preparing IPN. Does anyone know how to get it to update> I'ma newbie. Does it have to do with the ipn module??? I am using IPN v1.2. If anyone has had this troblu please let me know what I can do to get it working? Thanks
