Adding extra fields to product info

can someone PLEASE point me in the right direction.

 

The 'Product name' field isn't really enough for me as the info i need to put in it is too long.

 

example product name - 'In.Pro Indicators - VW Golf III & Vento - Clear incl. cover for cars w/o fog light NEW GENERATION'

 

as you can see its very long and thats with info taken out.

 

Unless someone can give me another idea what i want to do is add another field so that i can split the information.

 

eg

 

Product Name 1 - In.Pro Clear Indicators - includes cover for cars w/out fog light

Product Name 2 - Volkswagen Golf III & Vento

 

another example

 

Product Name 1 - BMC Carbon Dynamic Airbox

Product Name 2 - Seat Ibiza Cupra 1.8T

 

I get the feeling that this is probably going to be very difficult and time consuming to do but i do really need to do it. Obviously it will affect a number of things like the product listing and the functionallity of the search feature.

 

Any information would be a great help.
