Any1 had this issue? I assume you are talking about the catalog/includes/configure.php file? You need to access you servers site admin control panel and go to the file manager and from there you can set the permissions on the file to 444 this will get rid of the error message. On many servers you can also change these settings via a ftp program. Backup before making changes. Backup before making changes! Backup before making changes!! You did do a backup? eh?

Yes i am referring to configure.php, but also all the rest of the folders/files that are ment to be changed: Rename the catalog/install folder or delete it. Reset the permissions on /catalog/includes/configure.php to 644 (if you are still getting the warning message at the top set configure.php to 444 which is read only - this happens on some servers that have been updated for security reasons). Set the permissions on /catalog/images directory to 777. Reset the permissions on /catalog/admin/includes/configure.php to 644. Create the dir /catalog/admin/backups and set the permissions to 777. Set the permissions on /catalog/admin/images/graphs directory to 777. You need to .htaccess your /catalog/admin directory so that it is password protected. You can use the password manager in your server admin area like cpanel. I have checked the control panel and I cannot see anywhere to set permissions. The control panel used is HELM. I have also tried to change permissiosns with FTP client, i am using FileZilla, I can change the permissions here but seems to change back to old permissions no matter how many times i change them. Has a note that permission editing may only work on Unix servers. I am using windows server.

For this just do as they say and using your ftp program delete this folder Reset the permissions on /catalog/includes/configure.php to 644 (if you are still gettingthe warning message at the top set configure.php to 444 which is read only - this happens on some servers that have been updated for security reasons). If it was you can simply make the configure.php a read only file. I think you best bet is to call you server and ask them how to change the permissions on their admin control panel. You will need to be able to do this as the configure.php file need to be changed from time to time as you add contributions. For this you will need to reset the permissions to 644 to update and then back again to 444. As for the other instuctions you just need to do what they say. Backup before making changes. As i stated before, I cannot change the permissions thru ftp of HELM control panel. I donot host my own server. I have emailed my hosting company and they say they have changed all permissions as above, still I get the configure.php error. This is driving me nuts.

I still think your host needs to tell you how to be able to change the permissions on files. I know on my host I can change the permissions to 644 on the configure.php file via ftp but then have to change them back to 444 via the webhosting control panel. A bit of a drag but I know how to do it. I have never heard of a server who would not tell you how to be able to do this. I know about helm but I'm sure they have a website. You could check there for instructions on how to set permissions and then do it yourself. Could you post a link to your site so others can check it out and perhaps solve your problem. Backup before making changes. Backup before making changes! Backup before making changes!! You did do a backup? eh?

You should be able to change permissions in a helm control panel via your file manager. The only thing I can think of that would keep you from doing so is if you are on a window server. A lot of windows servers are setup so that you cannot change permissions at all which is just one more reason to stay away from windows servers. The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems? There are many very useful osC Contributions Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??
