Installations problems in database import step

Hello Guys!!

I have installed PHP, MySQL and Apache on a Windows 2000 professional machine. I started my install and followed the first two steps as given in the manual, but when I enter the database details as given below and click on continue I get a half generated page saying "New Installation" and "Database Import" but no error or any other information. I have seen similar articles posted on this forum but haven't found a conclusive solution. I would aprreciate any help in this mater.

Database Server: localhost

Username: root

Password: (blank, I have verified that the password is actually blank)

Database Name: catalog (I had create an empty database with this name)

Persistent Connections: Not Selected

Session Storage: Database

Also please note that I was able to manually create the database structure by importing the oscommerce.sql file using phpMyAdmin.

Thanks a lot.

If your database is installed then you really do not need to run the install if you can't get it to work. You can manually edit the /includes/configure.php and the /admin/includes/configure.php

Just the first couple of lines at the top of the pages need to be edited and the database info at the bottom.
