Downloading products causes site delay

I have a modified version of osCommerce and we sell music online, people pay and then they have access to their downloads, some of these downloads are quite large but for some reason whenever someone downloads a product they can't view other parts of the osCommerce installation e.g. browse genres, i click on the links but it's not until the download has completed that they can view other parts of the site, is this something that happens with a standard installation of osCommerce or is it new for my installation, anyone know what might be causing it?

I've had no success on finding the cause of this problem, does anyone else have problems navigating their oscommerce shop whilst downloading a product on the checkout_success.php page, am I posting in the wrong forum?

I think your in right area....I am setting up site and don't have that problem yet - only a few samples up

But i am having trouble getting good files to download..

The sales process goes fine but on download files are corupt.

I even tried a text file as a test and when downloded opened and it was empty....

 

Any ideas? Did you have simpliar problem?
