Different model number with different attribute

Hi,

In our shop we sell different things, among them clothes.

Can anyone tell me, how is it possible to change a model number of the product, when a buyer changes the product attribute (in my case size).

All our clothes have different model numbers for different sizes, for example:

"bikers" T-shirt: size S is model Nr. 0001, size M is model Nr. 0002, etc.

So when a customer buys size L we have to look up the correct model nr. manually (only one model nr. per product can be entered, so we chose to enter the S-size model number with all products.)

Can this be done by adding another option in the attributes area? Instead of price change we want to have a model nr. change with different sizes.

Please help.

Thank you, I just read the specifications for Master Products, but I think it is rather to complex, can this be done in a more simple way?

I would just need the different product number when someone orders something, not for the customers.
