(Willing to compensate anyone who can supply this info).

It's exhaustive and very time-consuming to write the kind of paper you're looking for, and it's extremely uncommon to find open source projects with documentation like that. Most of this kind of knowledge exists only in the heads of those most familiar with the project, and even then there aren't many who have enough knowledge to write this without a lot of additional research.
