jasonabc Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 How can i remove the default greeting and login option from the top of my store? Well the best way would be to do a quick search of this forum where this has been answered many, many times before ;-) Jason My Contributions: Paypal Payflow PRO | Rollover Category Images | Authorize.net Invoice Number Fix

eyespyyou Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Well the best way would be to do a quick search of this forum where this has been answered many, many times before ;-) I was told some of you guys were jerks! At one time we all had to start at the beginning. That is what makes these forums so special. If I had the knowledge, I would be more than happy to share it with newbie to help them alon, instead of giving out smart remarks!
rabbitseffort Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 I agree with the above comment--that is one reason I am staying away from the boards here more and more--some people are jerks about this stuff--maybe they dont know the answer so they just have to say something--anyway, find this code in index.php around line 298: <tr> <td><table border="0" width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> <tr> <td class="main"><?php echo tep_customer_greeting(); ?></td> </tr> <tr> <td><?php echo tep_draw_separator('pixel_trans.gif', '100%', '10'); ?></td> </tr> and remove it, this will take away the customer greeting, hope this helps! "I must admit that I personally measure success in terms of the contributions an individual makes to her or his fellow human beings." ---Margaret Mead--- "The answer is never the answer. What's really interesting is the mystery. If you seek the mystery instead of the answer, you'll always be seeking. I've never seen anybody really find the answer -- they think they have, so they stop thinking. But the job is to seek mystery, evoke mystery, plant a garden in which strange plants grow and mysteries bloom. The need for mystery is greater than the need for an answer. --Ken Kesey"
jasonabc Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 to the above two comments - I was merely pointing out the fact that there is a very good search engine on this forum and the OP should try using it before posting. A quick search for "remove greeting" pulled up the answer the OP was looking for http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?sho...42entry270242 Jason My Contributions: Paypal Payflow PRO | Rollover Category Images | Authorize.net Invoice Number Fix
sra4031 Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 I have alot of questions myself, but the responses I see is why I do not ask. I do searches, and here is some of my problems. I do a search and there are several responses like the one this post gotten, some even go back two years or so, and the answer might be differnt now due to updates. If I do a search on the bug page either the search string is not exactly right and finds nothing, or it brings up several, and after looking through pages and pages of search results, none answers the question. Some contributions are good, some have bugs, some you have to install the contribution and then download the fix, etc... Also I have concerns about using a contribution cause I do not know the codes of .php and as far as I know a hacker can put in a string that will collect information. I would not say these guys are jerks, just feel like our questions are too simple to deal with. You guys are on a different feild than us, that is why you are the designers and tech support and we are the users. Most of us does searches, and by the time we get to the point to finally ask, we are scared off from seeing the same responses. After seeing the reponses several times no matter the question, I know what response I am going to get before I ask. This is the same reason we do not make suggestions of things we will like to see.
