editing the shops main page

hi i hope some one can help me. im trying to edit my stores home page to wat i want. i know u have to edit the index.php but the one i have downloaded is completely different to the one that is in the file manager. i really need to get this sorted as my customers arent happy. can any one help please

Use an FTP program and a plain text editor to download and edit includes/languages/english/index.php.
