Totally Newbie Help Please

Config Help Questions please:

 

1. I was trying to tweak the english.php and this error came up after I save it?

 

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/biaorego/public_html/osCommerce/catalog/includes/languages/english.php on line 79

 

So now what do I do? I actually reversed it and I'm still getting this error.

 

2. I want to include a "URL link" at the top of the page of the store where it says "top, catalog" where do I do this? because right now it goes to a page that for setup purposes only.

 

3. On the center main page where the Guest logs in how and where do I change that text information? I went to the path /includes/languages/english/index.php and tried to change it but got a terrible error once again. So am I not in the correct area? or what?

 

 

Just for your information: My host is IPOWERWEB...they use osCommerce (v2.2.2)

Is this is good version? Do I need to upgrade anything?

 

This PHP language is very challenging to me. I have accomplished Asp fairly well, however this PHP language is totally greek to me.
