Download Area & Gift Certificates

I want to make a product availbable for free download. I have activated the download capability but I cannot see how to make it downloadable. I want to be able to specify which products and/or catagories are available for download. How do I do that?

 

I am also trying to offer the ability to make donations. I figured I could add the ability to buy gift certificates but cannot seem to find a way to do that. I have search the contributions but I have had no luck there. Can anyone help?
