Hi There,

I know this issue has been addressed in post:

http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=187283

but since everyone seems to be happy with the answer I fear that the Thread is forgotten and adding an answer to it will not really be recognized.

I carefully read all of what is written there and tried the various solutions but still it doesn't work.

I try to install 'osCommerce 2.2 Milestone 2 Update 051113' following the steps described in the documentation. Everything is working fine and I get the message:

'A test connection made to the database was successful.'

When I click on continue, I get the error:

'SQL file does not exist: /install/oscommerce.sql'

So I tried the steps written in the a.m. post.

I does not matter what I trie, I allways end up with the same error.

The info.php proposed by AlanR gives me: '/home/breadcrumbs.de/public_html'

The info.php proposed by cyclonut tells me that it is a Linux Server with Apache Webserver

So what can I do?

I relly would appreciate a solution.

Thank you

Andreas

There is usually not a problem on Linux/Apache servers.

Check that the oscommerce.sql file is actually present. Often, the FTP upload to the server fails to transfer all the files.

Check that the folder and file permissions are correct.

Nothing else comes to mind (this error usually occurs on a Windows file system where the slashes in the path are treated differently...)

Well, the file is there, under catalog/install named oscommerce.sql having a size of 180.242 Byte.

The folder permission is set to 777 the file to 666 (tried even 777 with no effect)

Any other possibilities?

since I try to import the oscommerce.sql file via the browser based installation routine, I would like to know, if there is another way to import it.

And if there is a way (I suspect it must be possible to import it directly into the database?), will the (unknown) reason the the installation routine did not find the file, affect the oscommerce shop when redily installed and running?

And if not - how to continue withe the installation process, when the webbased routine does not know that the database import is sucessfully done?

Thank you very much for help.

I really want to get this going.

I try it once more to find the one that knows what is wrong. I really don't know what to do.

I've read the installation guide over and over again, downloaded the package different times, uploaded it different times, followed all the posts in the thread mentioned above, checked the permission and so on...

Step 3 is not possible.

The only thing I found is that the Web Based Installation Routine description on the osCommerce Webseite is different from the Installation Routine I experience in real.

Thanks

Manual Install

----------------

Go to your database via phpMyAdmin, click on the SQL tab, use the Browse box to locate the oscommerce.sql file on your computer and then click the Go button.

Then edit includes/configure.php and admin/includes/configure.php with the correct information - then delete the install folder.

To know how to edit the configure.php files manually go to the Tips & Tricks Forum where there's a thread on setting up your configure.php files.

I'll do all that - as soon as my four kids are in bed - and thank you very much. I'll inform about success or failure.

Thanks Vger, for your help.

In the end - it was only possible to do the sql import via MySQL-Front. This is what my provider said. Whatever??? I have it up and running. Hopefully configuration and design won't be as difficult.....
