djhspawn Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 I just got my SSL cert setup with much frustration working with my hosting company. Now when you access my site securly there is warning that pops up. Can someone take a look at this and tell me where it is being generated from? Is it from my web hosting company or godaddy.com where I got my SSL cert from?

djhspawn Posted March 30, 2006 Author Posted March 30, 2006 Yes - if you give us a URL or paste the error in this thread......... oopps, I know there is somthing that I forgot. https://www.onestarco.com/os
custodian Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 oopps, I know there is somthing that I forgot. https://www.onestarco.com/os There is no serial number.. and the issuer is you E = [email protected] CN = onestarco.com OU = Online Store O = One Star Clothing Co. L = Lakeside ST = Ca C = US That's not right.. For it to work it's got to be issued by a trust authority.. either your Host didn't install the cert you got from go daddy and "made their own" or Go Daddy took you for one. And I don't think go daddy would be in business if they had business practices like that.. My personal opinion, your host didn't do something right. It looks to me as if they self signed and self issued your own cert to you. The kind that anyone can make for FREE - but they are not e-commerce grade and everyone will get that pop up. Does anyone else get this assumption about this cert? My Contributions Henry Smith

djhspawn Posted April 1, 2006 Author Posted April 1, 2006 OK folks, I have done some e-mailing and some things have changed. I now see that there is an issuer for my SSL beside me. But I still get an alert when entering my secure area. Does anyone have any other ideas on this??? Is a godaddy.com not a good issuer for SSL certs?

If we read the error information, we find out that the certificate is for - onestarco.com - not www.onestrco.com. Therefore, the url needs to be - https://onestarco.com/os/ Which does work.
custodian Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 hhmm.. I get the pop up regardless of www or not. Seems to match the issued address, possible a low grade non-recgonized cert? My Contributions Henry Smith
WebRat Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 Off topic, is that site live? Reason I ask is you are selling a (one) shirt at 10 cents with free shipping?
djhspawn Posted April 2, 2006 Author Posted April 2, 2006 its live but.... this address has only been given out for t/s purposes, and it was only 10 cents for testing reasons.
djhspawn Posted April 4, 2006 Author Posted April 4, 2006 Now if I got a cert from for instance Verisign would this alert not come up??? Does anyone have any suggestions of places where I can get certs that browsers recognize?
djhspawn Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 no suggestions???? I did some searching but everything comes back to verisign.
