MPT Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Hey there everyone. I finally have my first real osCommerce store online. Im sure there will be some changes along the way, but for now, I think it looks good. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. scrapbookdiecutter store
chooch Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 it is stock, just looks like basic osC you have made a good start with css change but you really should go a step further when you are confident enough and replace the stock osC images first and then experiment with some extra image modules and product listing contributions... and so on because your site is stock Upon receiving fixes and advice, too many people don't bother to post updates informing the forum of how it went. Until of course they need help again on other issues and they come running back! Why receive the information you require in good faith for free, only to then have the attitude to ignore the people who gave it to you? There's no harm in saying, 'Thanks, it worked'. On the contrary, it creates a better atmosphere. CHOOCH
Guest Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 potentially good business spoiled by limited product info, i havent seen these before, im interested but there isnt enough info for me to spend $400 so im off to find more info, but i wont be coming back to buy get my drift? selling isnt throwing up a few descriptions and images, especially when i can buy anywhere.
abra123cadabra Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Hi MPT, I'll just add my bit to this thread. When I visit a new website it should immediately tell me what it is about. To be honest, I haven't got a clue what exactly you are selling. I know scrapbooks are used to collect cutouts etc. but why I would need a cutter to use with a scrapbook, no idea. So maybe just explain a bit more what I get in your shop and why I need it. Get me interested to start this as a new hobby... I don't mind the stock osC look but the colours don't match with the background. Next thing I check on a webpage is the location of the shop. Internet allows for a global market but I still like to know where I order my stuff from. The flag in the currency/language box is UK, currency is US dollar or EURO. On another page you tell me that you accept CA dollar too. The contact us page gives me email address and phone number but no real address. Somewhere you inform me that you apply shipping rates to some areas of the USA but there is nowhere I can check about your shipping and returns policy or even privacy and conditions. Then (I think it was where you tell about accepting CA dollar) you inform me that you don't accept returns at all. Even if I were interest up to the buying point, this would definitely turn me off. No idea if you need to allow for a cooling-off period in the US but here in EU you definitely have to give a grace period of at least 7 days from arrival of the goods at the shipping address. So all in all your site is absolutely not trustworthy enough for me to spend 500 $ or more. Hope that helps, abra The First Law of E-Commerce: If the user can't find the product, the user can't buy the product. Feedback and suggestions on my shop welcome. Note: My advice is based on my own experience or on something I read in these forums. No guarantee it'll work for you! Make sure that you always BACKUP the database and the files you are going to change so that you can rollback to a working version if things go wrong.
