minuteman1970 Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 In my OSc catalog, I currently offer 900 products, with a flat rate shipping of $9.50 for orders of $10 or more (free for orders over $100). So far, this has worked out fairly for most customers, as my more popular products tend to be heavier/larger. However, I also offer small/light items such as military patches & insignia. I have not sold many, likely due to the fact that people don't want to pay $9.50 for shipping four or five patches which weight in at less than one pound. I am thinking of eventually changing over to an actual-weight type system, but adding each item's weight would take up too much of my time at this stage. I am wondering if there is a way to have a lower flat rate for certain light items, and if the system would know to raise the amount if a heavier item were also placed in the cart. thanks. www.specopstactical.com
jon_l Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 For the light products add a really, really low weight (eg 0.01). For the heavy products add a really, really heavy weight (eg 100). If the order weight is under 100, charge the low rate for shipping otherwise charge the higher rate. You might need to change the weights a bit, but you should get the idea. Jon.
