lsd_se Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 I have had my OSC installed for some time and it worls great. However, I was trying turn on the cache and it doesn't seem to work. I created a folder called "tmp" chmod 777 defined it in config-> cache turned on cache in config->cache but under tools->cache control it jsut says "file doens't exist" what else do i have to do? any suggestions would be appreciated!
lsd_se Posted March 29, 2006 Author Posted March 29, 2006 site is here by teh way, i want to cache my categories box www.jdmspeedshop.com
♥Vger Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 The message 'file does not exist' simply refers to the fact that it hasn't been cached yet. But I wouldn't recommend caching if you are on a shared server and the server uses a shared 'tmp' folder - as you could end up in a real mess - getting other websites Categories on your website. Vger
lsd_se Posted March 30, 2006 Author Posted March 30, 2006 thanks for your reply. so how do I cache the file and make the file? I read through the documentation but it doens't explain how.
Guest Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 I am having the exact same problem. Some help on this would be greatly appreciated. I have tried creating a new temp folder under my public_html with all permissions and still get the exact same message. It is really starting to bug me. Please HELP!
Avec Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 Your cache directory is define using the absolute path. Such as: /home/httpd/vhosts/yourdomain.com/httpdocs/cache
lsd_se Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 hi Avec, Thanks for your reply, but I tried that path as well, but it doesn't work either.
Avec Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Assuming you used the correct path for your site, and the cache directory exists - do you have the permissions for the directory set correctly? I think mine are set to 777.
