michi Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Why do i have to upload the files on a ASCII mode? It could not be on binary?
michi Posted March 29, 2006 Author Posted March 29, 2006 The FTP program have three options to upload files to a server: ASCII, binary and Auto. What option i use to upload the files to my host? Thanks all.
spax Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Basically, text type files (.txt, .html, .php etc) should be uploaded in ASCII. Media type files (.gif, .jpg, .swf etc) should be uploaded in Binary. Auto will select an appropriate mode.
michi Posted March 29, 2006 Author Posted March 29, 2006 Thank you very much Peter. I don't know where i read that the oscommerce's files should be upload in an ASCII mode. Is it correct? Thanks all. B)
♥Vger Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Yes, oscommerce 'files' should be uploaded in ASCII mode. Using Auto-Select doesn't always do that. It's best to set your ftp programme to upload files of a certain type (.php .html etc) in ASCII mode, and then you can use Auto-Select without any problems. Vger
