assign a default attribute?

I am setting up a jewelry shop and would like to offer attributes. eg(color of beads, clasp type, etc.). Unless specifically requested I would like the attributes menus have nothing in them or default to a specified attribute.

 

example: My products will have a toggle clasp unless the customer chooses something else with the "Clasp:" menu.

So far it looks like the attributes are alphabetical.

 

Oh yeah, I also have attribute sets installed.

Hi Todd,

 

I noticed that when you add attributes to products, the one you add first becomes the default. Therefore if you make sure that you add none as the first attribute. I'm not sure how you can implement this if your using Easy populate though.

I will give it a try. I am not using easy populate, yet. Thank you for your reply.
