kasja2008 Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 I urgently need to merge *Multi Stores & *Master Products for me. I am starting my site from scratch so there is nothing else to worry about. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP.
mtechama Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 Hello are you trying to put about lets say 5 to 10 stores on one site? Wade Morris Amarillo, Texas Before you do any changes on your site you need to do BACKUP! BACKUP!
kasja2008 Posted March 27, 2006 Author Posted March 27, 2006 No. Just two, but I want each to have the master products mod, and it is beyond my ability to merge the codes from both (ie multistores and master products)
mtechama Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 ok are both going to be the same type of stores like this: http://www.mydomain.com/catalog1 http://www.mydomain.com/catalog2 ? Wade Morris Amarillo, Texas Before you do any changes on your site you need to do BACKUP! BACKUP!
kasja2008 Posted March 27, 2006 Author Posted March 27, 2006 Yes. And in some cases they will share products as well. So they need to have the same admin. It is because I am targeting two totally different customer bases, so I want to have customised stores.
mtechama Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 ok like this http://mydomain.com/store1 -------Database 1 http://mydomain.com/store2 -------Database 2 each store needs to have a seperate databases Wade Morris Amarillo, Texas Before you do any changes on your site you need to do BACKUP! BACKUP!
kasja2008 Posted March 27, 2006 Author Posted March 27, 2006 Do you mean with a shared admin, or seperate? Multistores allows you to share one admin, where you can administer both stores. This is important to me
mtechama Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Do you mean with a shared admin, or seperate? Multistores allows you to share one admin, where you can administer both stores. This is important to me each store have its own admin for each database. if you want to do a multistore with one database the main admin will control all other stores For and example: on my website I have 2 different stores one is my computers and other is my gift shop but under 2 different databases Wade Morris Amarillo, Texas Before you do any changes on your site you need to do BACKUP! kasja2008 Posted March 27, 2006 Author Posted March 27, 2006 I would like the main admin to control both stores.

kasja2008 Posted March 27, 2006 Author Posted March 27, 2006 yes, although some products will not be available on both stores. In multi products mod, it allows you to choose which store you want the product to be listed in.

In multi products mod, it allows you to choose which store you want the product to be listed in. ok what you need to do this upload store1 like this mydomain.com/store1 then upload the second store to mydomain.com/store2 then put your second store database samething as your first store is. store1 to main database store2 to main database if you do that when you you add your products on your main store then it will enter in the second store. but first before you do this you need to this "BACK UP" your database Wade Morris Amarillo, Texas Before you do any changes on your site you need to do BACKUP! kasja2008 Posted March 27, 2006 Author Posted March 27, 2006 Thanks so much for all this help! I just don't understand what you mean by: "then put your second store database samething as your first store is". Can you please explain it in a really basic way? And then how does that work with including the master products mod?
kasja2008 Posted March 27, 2006 Author Posted March 27, 2006 Sorry...also, what happens when i want some products to appear in one store but not the other?

kasja2008 Posted March 27, 2006 Author Posted March 27, 2006 Both of them are already set up as msql3. I just don't understand the basics of this. How to have just one admin? Do I need to multi stores mod, or not?
mtechama Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 No you don't need Multi stores MOD just like I said when you add products in your main database in your main admin. The second store will pull the products in that database that you enter from your main store admin. Wade Morris Amarillo, Texas Before you do any changes on your site you need to do BACKUP! BACKUP!
kasja2008 Posted March 27, 2006 Author Posted March 27, 2006 But can I select which products I want in the second store? Can I add products to the 2nd store that aren't in the first?

kasja2008 Posted March 27, 2006 Author Posted March 27, 2006 ok, so in that case, i either need two admins, or i need to run multistores. which brings me back to my original problem...because I need to run the master products mod, but can't get it to work with multistores.

mtechama Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 ok. thanks heaps! lets say you have this: Store2 admin: if you add a selected item in the main database. It will automatically added to the main store. Store2 admin: if you add a selceted item in the main database. it will also automatically added to the second store. Why? becuase both store is sharing the same database Wade Morris Amarillo, Texas Before you do any changes on your site you need to do BACKUP! BACKUP!
Guest Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 lets say you have this: Store2 admin: if you add a selected item in the main database. It will automatically added to the main store. Store2 admin: if you add a selceted item in the main database. it will also automatically added to the second store. Why? becuase both store is sharing the same database That means the same with customers, If a customer registered in one store, he will be recognized in the second store, right? If so, what is the benifit to have 2 stores instead of one?
