Remove Sub-Category images at the top

Yes..I'm a newbie to this product as well as .php so I apologize for the basic question. I'm loading a shopping cart and have multiple levels of products. Every time I click on a sub-category I get the "category" heading in the center of the page and images of each of the sub-categories. In addition, I obviously get the text links on the side..

 

I'm interested in seeing how to remove the category heading in the center and the image loading of the various sub-categories..

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

If you have not already uploaded images for your subcats in under images in the configuration box of your admin set image required to false. If you have images assigned to your subcats already edit them and remove them after changing your setting to false and they all you should get is the text link....
