change index place instead of in the catalog

Hello everybody, I would like to put my index at the beginning of my web site instead of having it in the catalog, can anyone help me on this ,, example : now www.mywebsite.com/catalog/index.php but I would like it to be at www.mywebsite.com/index.php I have tried a lot of things but its not working , thank you in advance

Well if you REALLY want to do this I would take all the files in /catalog and FTP them to your personal hard drive for starters. That way if anything happens you still have all of your files. Then take those same files and again using your FTP program load them at your main www.yourwebsite.com folder. This may break some things like permissions , password protection to the admin folder and certainly all of the paths need to be edited in the conf files.

 

The other possibility and this should ONLY be considered by advanced users is to have your DNS entry edited by your ISP to show that www.yourwebsite.com is www.yourwebsite.com/catalog ...... all of the paths would need to be edited in the conf files. I do not know if your SSL cert would need to be changed , but my guess is no change would be needed. :blink:

wow thanks a lot but I think it is a bit to complicated lolll thanks again but I will leave it as is , I was thinking of it being more easy, but thanks for answering anyways
