I know, stupid question probably, but my head is still spinning here..

which paypal option do you guys use, if you have an ssl installed, do you need to use the payments pro for $20 bucks a month???

or is website payments standard okay to use.....

Basically, PayPal has its very own ssl installed, so you dont really need to worry too much ont hat aspect. The level of mod you want is entirely down to your budget and preferences......

i wouldn't pay anything for it. there's free solutions available in the contribution section if you're having problems receiving the order details and whatnot.

Just keep in mind, some customers might find it unprofessional(and may be leery about it) to have them go to a different site to pay then go back to yours. The $20 might be worth it. $20 isn't much tho if you compare it to other merchant accounts.

can you explain how paying somebody $20 will make paypal be used without having to send the customer to paypal.com?

This is from PayPal's website:

With Website Payments Pro, you get an all-in-one payment solution.

Take credit card payments via phone, fax, mail, and in person. Website Payments Pro includes Virtual Terminal, which allows your customers the flexibility to pay you with a credit card offline, with no PayPal account required.

Accept credit card payments directly on your website; PayPal processes payments in the background, so you control the customer experience.

Allow PayPal accountholders to check out fast with saved information, plus, gain incremental sales from our growing base of more than 96.2 million user accounts in 55 countries and regions.

Get industry-leading security. We have industry-leading fraud-prevention systems in place?and help fight chargebacks for you. Plus, you can control your level of risk?to allow only the types of transactions you prefer.

Take advantage of comprehensive online reports that help you measure sales and manage your business easily.

For a small sore without much sales volume might find $20.00 very attractive.

Hello,

I suggest you go for Paypal IPN contribution by the oscommerce team. This will not make you bother about the CC number as they will be all stored on Paypal site.PLus many customer even are afraid of using an SSL site of users and would prefer going into paypal to make payment as they are sure that CC number from paypal cant be hacked.

So unless theer is a genuine reason of collecting CC details or if the other option of WPP saves you some dollars I suggest goign with IPN paypal.

Though the contribution of Dynamo on WPP is fantastic and works great.

Okay, cool, so I dont really have to use the 20$ Pay pal, just use the contribution. I dont think the 20 is alot, its just right now, with setting everything up, I dont have the extra money to shell out....perhaps in the future, but I just wanted to know what others were using before I finish my final installations! Thanks so much for the tip guys!!!

Eww,

I think you're not understanding what he's saying? Paypal WebPayments Pro works like a payment gateway in which the user is not transported to the PayPal site, it's processed on your site like an normal gateway. For this service PayPal charges $20 a month, which is a little lower than you will pay for a gateway like Authorizenet.

these post have confused you...

If you're going to use PayPal IPN you don't need to pay PayPal the monthly $20 fee. You just need the PayPal IPN contribution...

If you're going to use PayPal Web Payments Pro, then you will need to download the contribution FOR THAT AND you will pay PayPal a monthly fee of $20

I looked at that contribution. It looks like the shopping cart will still transfer the user to PayPal, then back and updates the cart(thought it did this already without a contribution). Am I missing something? If it still makes makes your customer leave your site then I still would go with the $20.00/month(if you have the money) unless you are selling downloadable products. I haven't installed it to try it but plan to install the one needed for the PayPal merchant account.

Hmm, wouldn't let me edit my post...

Also be sure to check all the fees with other merchant accounts. Some have a gateway fee, statement fee, application fee and a set-up fee. From what I've been able to tell from PayPal's site, they give you everything a regular merchant account would but for a lot less. I haven't used their merchant account yet but plan to.
