Guest Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 I need to be able to do three things: List which vendor each of the products that I carry is coming from so that the shipping can be charged correctly, have UPS as a shipping option (because that's who my vendors use), and have a search feature which will allow customers to tell me the year, make, and model of their vehicle and will present products in my catalogue which will fit their vehicle (based ont he fact that I've said that they will in the description, or something). How can I accomplish these things? I see there is a module for Multiple Vendors, but it seems to say that it doesn't really work? I've not found anything for adding UPS as a shipping option, and the Advanced Search feature isn't presenting itself either. I'd appreciate any advice!

I'm awaiting that one because I need it desperately - all drop shippers. ARGH. As for UPS, make sure you have signed up an accoutn with them on their website. In your admin panel there is shipping modules section, you can activate the UPS one. There are also contributions that beef up UPS. Can't help you with the Search thing.

I'm using version 2.2-MS2, I wonder if that is why some people have the UPS module, but I don't. I've read some posts that make it sound like the later versions don't include the module. I do hope we get something on the Multi Vender deal, though, or I'm going to be taking losses on shipping of packages, and since I'm taking so little mark-up in the first place, losses aren't going to excite me very much. I need something for droppshipers also. I could add a shipping method for each vendor, but they would all be active and the customer would not know which to pick. If we could define the shipping method when we add a new product things would be much easier. I don't think it would be that hard to program into oscommerce and would save the heartache of having to add it as a contribution (hack, as called else where). Kurt
