Guest Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 anyone have the "yahoo bot" (as identified by spiders.txt) on 24/7 - is there a purpose for this? i mean, it's a cold day in hell when i get a single hit from the yahoo/inktomi search engines... the majority of my hits are from google or link exchanges or paid advertisements.... why do they LIVE on certain websites and never leave, yet offer no fruits in return??

Guest Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 oh? i'm not quite sure what you mean... can you elaborate? :) also, has anyone experienced this: all of the order purchases come when there are next to no bots on the site.. may just be a coincidence, but it happens like clockwork. the way yahoo has been molesting my site lately it's really got me wondering about this

jon_l Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 I have Google and Yahoo spiders on my site for long periods all the time, Yahoo has been active for 18 hours at the moment. There seems to always be a gap between page requests from them, so they're not doing any harm as far as I can tell. I can't think of why spiders would cause a drop in orders, I'm sure this is just a coincidence. Jon.
