jdez Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Probably a dumb question: When deleting categories and products from the DB, does OSC automatically delete the related image files or do you need to do this manually? Where are the product images stored anyway. In the database or in the image directory? Thanks.
needquickhelp Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Nope the image just stays there in your images folder until you delete it.
jasonabc Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Where are the product images stored anyway. In the database or in the image directory? Images are stored in the image directory. The database just stores the *path* to the images. Jason My Contributions: Paypal Payflow PRO | Rollover Category Images | Authorize.net Invoice Number Fix
jdez Posted March 22, 2006 Author Posted March 22, 2006 Thanks! Is there any feature or utility that lets you delete unused images that don't have paths?
ltldoc Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Sorry about hijacking your thread Dave, but I have a question somewhat along the same lines. When I attach an image to a product I am taken to my computer for the product image. This requires me to download all these images (right now over 4500) to my computer and then upload each to the correct product. My vendor, in the tab delimited file lists each image on its own site (http://vendor.com/images/image.jpg). Does anyone know why we can't just upload this address and have oscommerce pick up the image? Thanks Kurt

Thanks Kurt This is probably along the same lines as well but I was wondering if there was a .PHP file somewhere where we can specifically define where images will be stored and uploaded to. For example, instead of storing everything under /shop/images/ directory, I was wondering if I could get OSC to recognize that a new subdirectory exists (i.e. /shop/images/category/) and that I want to start using this subdirectory moving forward. Thanks, Arnold
