english.php, you must retain the osc copyright in admin though

"I must admit that I personally measure success in terms of the contributions an individual makes to her or his fellow human beings."

---Margaret Mead---

"The answer is never the answer. What's really interesting is the mystery. If you seek the mystery instead of the answer, you'll always be seeking. I've never seen anybody really find the answer -- they think they have, so they stop thinking. But the job is to seek mystery, evoke mystery, plant a garden in which strange plants grow and mysteries bloom. The need for mystery is greater than the need for an answer.

A fair way to do it IMO is to replace powered by OSCommerse with an image oscommerce.gif

Instead of removing that, add the picture over it. Now it won't come up in search engine searches, still looks appealing and gives credit where its due.

GNU/GPL licenced software is basically this:

you CAN legally remove the copyright message in the footers but in the actual files itself (.html/.asp/.php) there are copyrights, those you can't remove.

What I do is the following

<section>

© 2006 <my name> All Rights Reserved.

<credits>

where section means DBA stores, DBA forums, DBA links and so forth

my name, being my name

and credits is a link to the credits page where i post the credits for the forums, store, links, and other sections fully.

Yes you can do that... imo though you want to spread the word indirectly. I think removing the text prevents people from hitting your page looking for a good example to ripoff but does give someone looking for a good shopping cart base something to start with.
