Post Installation SSL Specification & Server Transfer

When I first intalled oscommerce on my server I believe it asked me to specify ssl or non-ssl. As I didn't have a certificate at that time I chose non-ssl. All files were placed in the httpdocs folder and not the httpsdocs folder. Now here is my situation. I am transfering from my virtual-dedicated server to my dedicated server. When I set up my domain (in PLESK) on my dedicated server I will add the SSL certificate. So my question for you experts is this. Currently on my virtual dedicated server all files are under the httpdocs directory on the server. To get up and running on the new server do I need to reinstall OS-Commerce on the new server? I do know how to set up the database if that is all installing oscommerce does. Would it be best to set up the domain on the dedicated server, then create a database and export and import from the other server, copy the files over to the HTTPSDOCS directory on the dedicated? If so, what about the images folder that is in the httpdocs directory. On a secure page (https) do the files on a page such as images also need to be in the secure httpsdocs directory? Thanks!

That is a dumb way to set up SSL - it should be set up with a symbolic link to your httpdocs directory - then you only need to modify your configuration file and dont need to unnecessarily maintain two sets of files - if you host does not know how to do this, find another that does :)

There is an admin control panel on the plesk server that will allow you to select both the SSL and non-SSL folders to look like the same directory. Look for a check box. I did the same thing on my install and if you need me to do a walk thru I can do that. :D
