Hi there! i would like to set up a new catagory for free downloads. Firstly how do i do this without going through the payments section.

Essentially i would like to link the buy now button to a questionnaire which i have built. Is this possible??

You just need to change the code for the buynow button to link where you want it to. However, if you are still going to have items to sell,then you will need to check which product is showing and display the appropriate link. Since it is free, why not just have a page where the customer can click on a button to download the item, bypassing the checkout altogether?

That what i am asking! Where can i find the code to enter the link to my questionnaire from the buy now button???

I set this up on a site for someone by adding the "Hide price if $0" contribution. This worked out nice because it hid the $0.00 from showing and the add to cart buttons.

 

Their products were desktop images so the people just had to save the pop up images but if you have a zip file or whatever you could just put a link to the file in the products description.

If the form you are using is not part of oscommerce, which is doesn't soud to be, then just reeplace the code for the buy now button wiht an html link. To find the file to edit, look in the url. If it says shopping_cart.php, then that is the one to edit.
