dimara Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Hi guys... Here is my site: www.skycomp.com.au We are using a local web hosting here, and the main problem is when it comes to the product info page, the page takes 10-20 second to come out. Can someone give me an idea what is happening? I also tried to use the original product_info.php and same thing still happens. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers Dimara
rabbitseffort Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 dont know but I couldnt get any page to load except the index--at least I didnt wait long enough--- and I suspect a potential customer wouldnt either--and I am on 3mb per second--good luck with it "I must admit that I personally measure success in terms of the contributions an individual makes to her or his fellow human beings." ---Margaret Mead--- "The answer is never the answer. What's really interesting is the mystery. If you seek the mystery instead of the answer, you'll always be seeking. I've never seen anybody really find the answer -- they think they have, so they stop thinking. But the job is to seek mystery, evoke mystery, plant a garden in which strange plants grow and mysteries bloom. The need for mystery is greater than the need for an answer. --Ken Kesey"

Cheers Dimara stop using frontpage stuff: you now have multiple <head></head><body> sections on index alone <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <title>SkyComp Online Store :: Computer Hardware & Software, Sydney</title> <META NAME="description" CONTENT="SkyComp Computers is an Australian online computer hardware and software store that sells parts, games, printers and more."> <META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="Computer, Store, Hardware, Software, Shop, Sydney, Hardware, Software, Eten, Australia, Cheap"> <base href="http://www.skycomp.com.au/"> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="stylesheet.css"> </head> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-us"> <meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 5.0"> <meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document"> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"> <title>New Page 2</title> </head> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-us"> <meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 5.0"> <meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document"> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"> <title>New Page 2</title> </head> <body> Treasurer MFC

Which file are you referring to? I checked the index.php, there was only one HEAD on it. Cheers
HSMagic Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 I have a 16Mb pipe and your page loaded fast and easy for me, but I can see where this might hurt on dial up or even a slower broadband connection. You really need to look into an Image thumbnailer like "ImageMagic" Contribution. It will also help with the skewed proportions on the images and well as reduce image size for faster loading. Even at that, I tried to hit a few of your products and it took forever even with my connection... I can't imagine even the worst mistakes on your side causing these delays.. I'd call your host and ask what gives! Even as I typed this I went back to your site and tried to load some product, at times it was never going to load, and then at times it loaded instantly. I would talk to your host about the "clogs" in the pipe.
