CarbonTerry Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 I get this message when trying to access admin panel: Server Requirement Error: register_globals is disabled in your PHP configuration. This can be enabled in your php.ini configuration file or in the .htaccess file in your catalog directory. Have not had this problem with other sites. Thanks
rabbitseffort Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 one way to take care of this is to copy the php.ini file from the catalog directory and add it to the admin directory also--at least that has worked for me--give it a try--but leave the one in the main directory also--just make a copy to put in the admin too "I must admit that I personally measure success in terms of the contributions an individual makes to her or his fellow human beings." ---Margaret Mead--- "The answer is never the answer. What's really interesting is the mystery. If you seek the mystery instead of the answer, you'll always be seeking. I've never seen anybody really find the answer -- they think they have, so they stop thinking. But the job is to seek mystery, evoke mystery, plant a garden in which strange plants grow and mysteries bloom. The need for mystery is greater than the need for an answer. --Ken Kesey"

Thanks I had a similar problem and I installed a contribution and it fixed the problem. Try this one: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...egister+globals
CarbonTerry Posted March 18, 2006 Author Posted March 18, 2006 I am somewhat dense about this problem. I looked in my catalog directory and did not see a php.ini file to copy.
rabbitseffort Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 look in the main catalog directory--it is there--or should be "I must admit that I personally measure success in terms of the contributions an individual makes to her or his fellow human beings." ---Margaret Mead--- "The answer is never the answer. CarbonTerry Posted March 18, 2006 Author Posted March 18, 2006 rabbitseffort, Thanks for the help. I must be overlooking something. I checked my catalog directory on a site that works good and saw no differences in files than the one that does not work properly. Neither had a php.ini file that I could discern. I am sure that I am just overlooking something that is obvious to others.
CarbonTerry Posted March 18, 2006 Author Posted March 18, 2006 This is the path that I should be working in? public_html / catalog / (Current Folder)
CarbonTerry Posted March 19, 2006 Author Posted March 19, 2006 I am really stuck on this. Is there someone that can help a newbie. I have checked my catalog directory in my web control panel and see no ini.php I cannot access the OsC control panel due to the error message. Thanks
custodian Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 I am really stuck on this. Is there someone that can help a newbie.I have checked my catalog directory in my web control panel and see no ini.php I cannot access the OsC control panel due to the error message. Thanks You should be looking for php.ini not ini.php First, unless this is your server you may not access to the php.ini 2nd are both the work and non-working website runnign currently on the same server? If they are installed on the same server and one is working and the other is not, then yes that's odd, especially if you can't find the php.ini BUT, even if you do not have an php.ini file access you can MAKE your own and place it in your home directory. CarbonTerry Posted March 19, 2006 Author Posted March 19, 2006 Henry, Thanks for taking the time to reply. My expertise (IMHO) is in graphics and design. I have just started with website design a few months ago and have learned a lot but most of all I have learned that I have to learn a LOT More. My 2 stores are not on the same server. I do not know how to make my own php.ini file as you suggest. I have researched this on the Internet but it is still beyond me. Any further help would be appreciated. www.Artelicious.com www.zone5pix.com
