Heple Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 I am getting this error on my home page. Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: C:/wamp/www/oscommerce-2.2ms2-051113/catalog/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file. I have read the user manual and it states: Rename the catalog/install folder or delete it. Reset the permissions on /catalog/includes/configure.php to 644 (if you are still getting the warning message at the top set configure.php to 444 which is read only - this happens on some servers that have been updated for security reasons). Set the permissions on /catalog/images directory to 777. Reset the permissions on /catalog/admin/includes/configure.php to 644. Create the dir /catalog/admin/backups and set the permissions to 777. Set the permissions on /catalog/admin/images/graphs directory to 777. You need to .htaccess your /catalog/admin directory so that it is password protected. You can use the password manager in your server admin area like cpanel. Congratulations! Now you are really done! I presume these permision figures are for setting permission's when hosting on web server's other than Windows localhost web server's. How do i do the equivelent on my system? Craig

How do i do the equivelent on my system? Craig If you are hosting this yourself on a local server I think all you have to do is make it a read only file. I could be wrong though since I have never done this but I have read this suggested on the forums. Backup before making changes. Backup before making changes! Backup before making changes!! You did do a backup? eh?
Guest Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 You are right ddp. Just right click the congiguration file without opening it. Open properties, click on read only and you then have it. Just remember that if you wish to edit the configuration file, you will first have to to read only off.
