jgairguns Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 I have been receiving several complaints every day for about 2 - 3 weeks about how slow my catalog is running. Several people have even stopped accessing it from home and several have, after experienceing how slow it is at home, have tried to access it at work where they are on an ether net and T1 line and still find it extremely slow. Some have complained that aftehr 20 minutes have stopped waiting for a page to open. I am loosing a lot of business because of this. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a solution or something that can be done to speed things up. Thanks John.

jgairguns Posted March 15, 2006 Author Posted March 15, 2006 Do you have a link to your site? to have a look Thanks, I would appreciate it. www.jgairguns.biz is the site. The site pages function adequately but click on Catalog and try to get through the catalog looking at a few different items or searching for something. John
julianpuje Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 The first thing that jump out are that i can't see any images at all in your shop???? Remove the product count from your categories, you don't need it and going off the Qty of products you have this uses loads of speed up as it has to count all the products in the database to show the number. The web address is http:www.jgairguns.biz but the shop address is http:jgairguns.biz ??? theres no www. so i would check this in your catalog/includes/configure.php that everything is set up correctly. Also can't really check anything else as the images are missing, so cannot see the image sizes etc to comment. HTH Julian A little knowledge is dangerous, I SHOULD KNOW. That is why this is so important to me at this time. We have a lot to load up. There are some pictures in the Accessories: Airguns, Used: and books section of the catalog. Thaks for your comments I will see what I can do to incorporate your suggestions. If you have any other comments let me know.
abra123cadabra Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 My first guess is that it's a server issue. When I ping jgairguns.biz I get an average round trip time of 565 ms, maximum is 1675ms. Pinging my own server results in avg. 88 ms, max. 119 ms. Maybe contact your webhosting company? abra The First Law of E-Commerce: If the user can't find the product, the user can't buy the product. Feedback and suggestions on my shop welcome. Note: My advice is based on my own experience or on something I read in these forums. No guarantee it'll work for you! Make sure that you always BACKUP the database and the files you are going to change so that you can rollback to a working version if things go wrong.
