Changing my categories layout

On my column left i have my categories box but I want to change the layout of it slightly so sub categories.

at the moment it looks like this for the main categories:-

Material Handling

Catering

Etc

When I click on say Material Handling I get the following:-

Material Handling

-Sack Trucks

-Shelf Trucks

-Turntables

Catering

Etc

Then the next bit is what I want to change, If I click on say sack trucks I get the sub categories of that listed directly below Sack Trucks instead of offset:-

Material Handling

-Sack Trucks

-Sack Trucks (Std)

-3 Way Sack Trucks

-Stairclimbers

-Shelf Trucks

-Turntables

Catering

Etc

As you can see it dosnt make a distinction that 'Sack Trucks (Std)', '3 Way Sack Trucks' and 'Stairclimbers' are a sub category of Sack Trucks. For most users they might miss them apearing in a long list. What I need is the following for that part.

Material Handling

-Sack Trucks

--Sack Trucks (Std)

--3 Way Sack Trucks

--Stairclimbers

-Shelf Trucks

-Turntables

Catering

Etc

That way each category that your on is bold and the subcategories given an extra '-', hopefully that will draw users attention to the fact that another level has appeared.

Below is what my categories box currently look like, can someone have a look and advise me how I can alter it to achieve that effect. Thanks in advance for any help.
