Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum and have just installed the osc provided by my hosting site.

Is there

1. any doco or topic which lists the things required to be modified once installed

2. list of things required (or process) to go live with the store

3. I'm getting permission error when trying to modify index.php through tools -> language

Thanks for your help

The best thing to do is just start at the top of the Admin Tool and work your way through it one by one. There are lots of things in there that you need to set or configure and lots of help in the knowledge base and on these boards that can help you through each step. Once you've got to the end, your store is set up and plugged in to various payment and shipping modules correctly, and it's got products in it ready to sell you are ready to do business.

if you are installed at a www.yoursite.com then you are already live

"The answer is never the answer. What's really interesting is the mystery. If you seek the mystery instead of the answer, you'll always be seeking. I've never seen anybody really find the answer -- they think they have, so they stop thinking. But the job is to seek mystery, evoke mystery, plant a garden in which strange plants grow and mysteries bloom. The need for mystery is greater than the need for an answer.

After having complete the install of osCommerce MS2.2....

1. Secure your admin folder with password and username , this can be done in your hostings controll panel.

2. If you do not have a sutible ftp and phpeditor program , find and download those.

3. Read the info at the Knowledge Base , Att..some screen shots and info will not be the same as in your shop....(They are for the next up and comming release) .

4. To edit any files download them using a ftp program and edit them in the phpeditor then upload them by ftp again.

5. Start going through the admin options and configure your shop, set-up shipping and payment options and then add categories and products.

6. Now the fun part....change the looks of the shop to make it your own.... B)
