GTWillemsen Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 I I have a feature suggestion/request. #security; it might be interesting to support auto-updates; so manually or by a cronjob it is possible to update the code, this should really increase security and userfriendlyness. #usermanagement / bridging it might be interesting to extend the support of intergrating the oscommerce shop in cms-solutions (like joomla) mainly usermanagement should be available to link, without core hacks. If oscommerce is easier to integrate in excisting cms solutions, it will attract a bigger audiance and developer community by opening up towards cms users and vice versa, make it easier to open a oscommerce shop. #core hacks; support for plugins / modules / components without core hacking. this way it is easier and saver to build/try/use extensions, without modding the core. So security maintains and it will be easier to update without having tons of code to manually insert/update. Plugins/addons/extensions should be easy to install trun on and off without affecting the core. regards, GT

cannuck1964 Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 The idea of implementing contributions without core hacks is not an easy task. Many business models rely on distinct logic, which generally always affects the core logic. Some of the more simple contributions maybe able to achieve this, but many would not. One idea I had was to develop plugin modules, based on basic business models, ie a wholesale business model, a retail business model, a download business model etc. Each of these model would be independant of each other and have a core code base unique to this type of system. With this in place, it would be a simple thing to enable different business logics, but changes to these business models would still entail modifing the core code found within them. cheers, Peter M.
