mav1959uk Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 I had a shock today, my emails from my os commerce are not working. I was notified I had a customer order through world pay, with no order confirmation emails from oscommerce. I have tested it several times through a test account. I have also tried to send emails from with the administration panel of oscommerce to no avail. Any ideas, it has worked up until recently. Any ideas would be gratefully accepted. www.mkwheatingcontrols.co.uk Malcolm [email protected]

rabbitseffort Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 this is probably something you checked but in admin under configuration make sure the email address in the "E-mail from" row is an email address with no extra marks--mine wasnt working before because for some reason it was in there like this: <[email protected]>, I took out the <> and now it works--however this didnt stop me from getting emails only from sending them thru the shop. Maybe this helps? Good luck "I must admit that I personally measure success in terms of the contributions an individual makes to her or his fellow human beings." ---Margaret Mead--- "The answer is never the answer. What's really interesting is the mystery. If you seek the mystery instead of the answer, you'll always be seeking. I've never seen anybody really find the answer -- they think they have, so they stop thinking. But the job is to seek mystery, evoke mystery, plant a garden in which strange plants grow and mysteries bloom. The need for mystery is greater than the need for an answer. --Ken Kesey"

VectorSix Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Possibly there is a problem with authentication? What has you host said?
element3 Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 I had the same problem after installing. No emails were getting anywhere. I am with a shared hosting company and was able to get in and look at my main server mail log to see what was happening. The email being sent out was going to 'nobody@(my domain).' Since I had no email account set up for "nobody", the email was being rejected off into the ozone. Once I set up an account for nobody@(mydomain) all the emails are flowing just fine now!! So my guess is that is the same thing that is happening to most of you with this problem.

You need to find out the default address your system assigns to all outgoing email and make sure an account actually exists for that email address.

Thanks for that, I have tried nobody@mydomain to no avail, my servers were recently upgraded and I feel its something to do with this I am trying to trace an email route but still no emails, testing again with no luck
VectorSix Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 It should not be nobody@.... it should be the account email you were assigned. Check to see what changes were made to the email system.

Thanks for that, I am pressing hard on my host, I have rebuilt my email accounts and assigned new passwords, at last I can get my orders, but still I cant use OS commerce to send email to any customers, my host server appears to be blocking any unknown outgoing mail via sendmail.
VectorSix Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 My second post suggested an authentication problem (unknown outgoing mail). What is the OS of the server? If it is Windows, you may need a smtp authentication contrib.

Finally my host has acknowledged that the problem is theirs and in their words "we have made a correction and the SENDMAIL function from with OScommerce now works" I had to prove to them that it was their problem and this is always difficult when you are a novice at techy things, its like the simile of a woman going to have her car repaired and the garage telling the woman she does not know what she is talking about. I was at the point of pulling my shop from my host and putting it elsewhere, I even had a techy contractor looking at the problem and now I will have their bill to settle, but still I am happy its fixed. :D
